Gallery Hours of Operation:
Fridays 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Saturdays 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Sundays 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

*The last booking of each day is 1 hour before closing. Galleries are cleared 15 minutes before closing

The museum offers free parking to visitors in our onsite lot. Free parking is available on South Mountain Avenue if our parking lot is full.

Family Learning Lab

Explore the Learning Lab on the 3rd floor as part of your visit. Large illustrations from the exhibition allow families to "step into" the stories. Engage with the stories using activity prompts, art supplies, and books.

Gallery Guidelines
  • Non-flash photography is permitted in the Museum for personal, noncommercial use. Tripods, gimbals, and booms require prior notice and permission.
  • Sketching and writing is allowed in the galleries with pencils only.
  • Baby strollers are welcome, but stroller access may occasionally be limited in certain galleries. 
  • Self-check coat room and lobby racks are available. Large bags, especially backpacks, are not permitted in the galleries.
Accessibility

The Montclair Art Museum is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Accessible parking is available near both the South Mountain Avenue entrance and the Nathaniel C. Harris Jr. education entrance, and both entrances have automatic push button openers. Vehicles can pull up to the front entrance to drop off individuals and small groups.   • Proof of vaccination is not required for visitors, program attendees, and students, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Face masks are optional for gallery visitors, Yard School students, and public program attendees, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick.

*These policies are subject to change based on federal and state health guidelines, trends in the pandemic in Montclair and Essex County, and other changes in MAM policy.

Blue Star Museum

MAM is a proud Blue Star Museum, offering free general admission to active military and their families year-round. For more information, visit arts.gov.

Families First Discovery Pass

NJ residents who receive benefits through SNAP, WFNJ, Child Care Subsidy and/or WIC are eligible for free admission.

Museums for All

MAM participates in the Museums for All initiative. Anyone receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can visit the Museum free of charge with the presentation of an EBT card.  For more information, visit museums4all.org

Museums on Us

Active Bank of America, Merrill, or Bank of America Private Bank (U.S. Trust) credit or debit cardholders receive one free general admission to MAM during official program weekends.

Unemployed visitors

Anyone currently unemployed due to the pandemic is welcome to a free ticket to the galleries.

Memberships/Reciprocal

American Alliance of Museums (AAM)

AAM members receive two adult admissions per visit. Please bring current proof of membership.

Art Museum Reciprocal Network (AMRN)

AMRN members receive two adult admissions per visit. Please bring current proof of membership.

Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD)

AAMD members receive two adult admissions per visit. Please bring current proof of membership.

Channel 13

Channel 13 members receive a half price ticket.

Library members

Check with your local library to see if they have a MAM membership card. Each library membership card admits two adults and all children.

Reciprocal memberships

Members of reciprocal programs receive two adult admissions per visit. MAM participates in MARP, MOD/CO, NARM, AMRN, and ROAM.

Staff of other museums

Employees of other museums receive two adult admissions per visit. Please bring your current work ID.
