Printmaking with Disperse Dye
This alternative printmaking process uses dyes and crayons to create vibrant mono prints on paper that are then transferred onto fabric. This process allows for rich experimentation with color, texture, and design on fabric. There will also be demonstrations and instructions on how the liquid dyes and crayons are made. Detailed handouts will be provided, and brief critiques toward the end of each session will ensure that all students see each others’ work.
No drawing experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided.
This class will include a visit to MAM’s galleries during class time to learn from artists on view and be inspired.
See the Yard School Policies for complete health and safety information.

Miriam Jacobs
What Miriam Jacobs likes best is getting her hands dirty with pastels or clay or dye. Whether fine art or textile design, as long as she keeps her creative muscles engaged, she is happy.
Another surprising source of happiness: teaching art. Who knew? She became a certified art teacher and taught full time for a while, got two prints published, taught at private schools and other places, and, for many years, at Montclair Art Museum. She enjoys reading, playing Scrabble, doing virtual jigsaw puzzles, walking, and writing long emails.
