In conjunction with Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale, MAM is excited to bring Katy Hessel to the Museum for a book talk and signing.

Katy Hessel is an art historian, broadcaster, curator, and the author of The Story of Art Without Men, a New York Times and international Bestseller, and winner of Waterstones Book of the Year 2022. Dedicated to celebrating women artists from all over the world, Hessel runs @‌thegreatwomenartists Instagram account and The Great Women Artists Podcast, where she has interviewed the likes of Tracey Emin, Marina Abramović, and authors Ali Smith and Deborah Levy. During her talk, Hessel will highlight the powerful and long-overlooked stories of women and gender non-conforming artists from all over the world.



This event will take place in Lehman Court. There are a limited number of seats available, early registration is recommended.

The talk will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Katy Hessel signing copies of her book at 5:30 p.m. Copies of The Story of Art Without Men will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Watchung Booksellers. The Museum will close to the general public at 4 p.m., but event attendees are welcome to view the galleries prior to the lecture.
