The Art and Practice of Tarot: An Evening with Lori Field, Pam Grossman, and Laetitia Barbier

36th Annual Julia Norton Babson Lecture

The esoteric, mystical art of tarot has fascinated artists and enthusiasts for centuries, with the oldest surviving cards dating to the early 1400s in Italy. Artist Lori Field reinterprets tarot archetypes employing a reoccurring cast of anthropomorphic beings and predominantly female or androgynous humans, that are often humorous, and always poetic and profound. Pam Grossman, author of Waking the Witch, and creator and host of The Witch Wave podcast will place Field’s work within the context of magical practice and cultural criticism. Laetitia Barbier, tarot reader and intuitive counselor, will discuss how tarot serves as a visual tool to bring clarity to our complex lives, and will demonstrate a tarot card reading using Field’s images. This program is held in conjunction with the exhibition Lori Field: Tiger Tarot.

This event is funded through the generous perpetual gift from the Julia Norton Babson Memorial Fund.
