My name is Chevon Hopkins, and I am an artist and art instructor who currently resides in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. My growth as an artist began in Pennsylvania where I attended Keystone College and Kutztown University and majored in fine arts and fine arts education. I went on to attend Kean University’s Masters in Fine Arts Education program. This education has aided in a lifelong learning process as an artist and instructor. I have been instructing students of all ages for over 13 years.
My illustrations have been published in both children and adult books. My painting work has included mural painting in schools and exhibited works in local cafes and art walks. My sculpture, jewelry and pottery have been showcased in shops and galleries in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Some of my favorite work is my Mother’s Day jewelry and large hand built vases that convey beauty and are accentuated with light glazes.
I have also spent extensive time working with individuals with disabilities and mental illness. I’ve explored the art making process with individuals and how it can impact their life.
I have always loved creating art. It is my outlet for expression. Creating art with others and assisting them with their art making process has allowed me to truly find my joy.
