Artists’ Talk: Caroline Monnet and Laura Ortman Together

1:00 pm
2:00 pm

FREE with Museum admission and for members, with advance registration required.

To open the U.S. debut of their immersive video, sound, and print installation From My Home to Yours, multidisciplinary artists and longtime friends Caroline Monnet and Laura Ortman will discuss their call-and-response process of co-development and the lush evocations of friendship, family, and land within.

The installation represents a long-distance creative exchange between their respective homes of Montreal and Brooklyn. The reciprocal work—and their coming together at Montclair Art Museum—joyfully converges their correspondence.

Moderated by Laura J. Allen, MAM Curator of Native American Art.

On Friday, June 17, 2022, join us as well for Laura Ortman’s sunset live performance and screening of film works by the pair.

From My Home to Yours premiered at Montreal’s Momenta Biennale de L’Image in 2021 (lead curator: Stefanie Hessler). The installation and these events for From My Home to Yours at MAM are organized by Curator of Native American Art Laura J. Allen in collaboration with the artists.
